The great gearhead bucket brigade known as the Red Ball Express is well underway with our now infamous ‘68 Javelin being relayed trailer-to-trailer to deliver it from California to Boston. This morning it found itself squarely in the center of the country. Its methodical trek east has been well documented on our forum section.

Thus far, Chad, Randal, Dan, Ron, Scott, Ryan, Kris, Andy, and probably a couple other members of the forum have had some hand on the car, whether it be muscling it up on a trailer or actually pulling it from stop to stop.

On the docket for the rest of the week? Today it will move (hopefully) to St. Louis and on to Indy. From Indy it will go to Columbus, Ohio and ultimately to Erie, PA where yours truly will be there to meet it with forum member Tony (Caveman) and a handful of other henchmen (and henchwomen). We’ll bench race the night away in Erie, and make a hasty exit on Sunday morning headed east. Stops on Sunday are planned at Lancaster Dragway outside of Buffalo to hook up with a couple members to have them sign the car and again somewhere in Eastern, NY or western Massachusetts so a few other guys can see this baby first hand.

As we’ve located a drop-in AMC 360 from a seller in Connecticut, there may be a detour in order to pick up that engine on Sunday, otherwise its straight home.

So far so good and we say that thankfully to everyone who’s participated, cheered this thing on, or said a prayer for the guys (and girls) involved in this adventure.

We wish the rest of the “Red Ballers” safe travel to and from their pickup and drop points. It’s been one heck of an adventure so far and we’re champing at the bit to have our allotted slice of the fun!
