Back on May 24th we showed you the below photo of this insane 1978 GMC van that is for sale on Craigslist. There were a fair amount of BS readers and commenters who saw some potential in the machine and one of those guys was Bret Crutchfield who is either a talented or demented genius (ok, maybe a little of both!) who actually did a vehicle rendering of a completed version of this van. Bret’s rendering is friggin’ awesome and frankly his vision of the completed project is bad ass looking and would be perfect for a honking v8 and plenty of highway stomping horsepower. We think the completed rendering is part Max Mad, part love machine, and all good.
Bret referred to the machine as the apocalypse van and while we agree that it looks like an apocalypse machine in its current bare metal state, when finished off as he envisioned, it looks downright pissed off and hot roddy. Call us crazy, but doing a pro street style back end on this thing with some large by huge wheels and tires would be mint as well. Sure, it would make carnal passions slightly more cramped, but the bad assery of that look could not be topped and how the hell can you have a front end seemingly designed to deflect missile strikes and just run some sort of “normal” back end? Answer: You can’t!
