Just when we thought the Jeremy Mayfield versus NASCAR saga was headed into a winter hibernation, word comes from the Associated Press that Mayfield either has hired or is in the process of trying to hire high profile celebrity lawyer Mark Geragos. Past clients of Geragos include Michael Jackson and Scott Peterson.
Geragos has recently opened a new law office, and this case would be the first for that office to handle. The one thing that really diappoints us is the fact that we will no longer see Mayfield’s previous legal counsel who bore an uncanny resemblance to Boss Hogg.
We’re no judge of legal prowess, so we can’t say if Geragos is a better lawyer than Mayfeld’s previous legal team, but one thing we do know is that he’ll be able to create a whole bunch more rukus around the case. With a knack for using the media to his advantage, Geragos is probably causing increased Maalox sales around the Daytona, Florida, area (where NASCAR HQ is located).
