Roadside Find: A 1950 International Dump Truck With Perfect Patina

While out for a cruise in the family truckster recently we wandered off into some of the more open country our little corner of the world has to offer and happened upon a barn that was lined with old tractors, trucks, and this amazing 1950 International dump truck. Not wanting to get a bottom full of rock salt, we didn’t venture onto the farmer’s property, but we were able to grab some shots from across the road.

Other than the fact that this truck is most likely powered by an inline six engine, measuring between 240 and 300ci, making between 120-150 hp, and hooked to a four-speed transmission, we cannot tell you a lot about it. Information on these trucks is pretty hard to come by, shockingly. It is literally the first and only one we have ever seen and initially we thought it was a Studebaker. Luckily we conversed with a BangShift.com member who speaks fluent ‘Stude (Thanks StudeMax) and he kept us from making that massive blunder.

The snowplow rig is home made from c-channel steel, it looks good and sturdy. We do not know where the actual plow assembly was sourced from but it is a big sucker and judging by the shallow curve and rough edges of the moldboard, we’re guessing it is as old as the truck.

The lettering, faded paint, light rust, and crumbly side boards on top of the bed, make this truck nearly perfect in our eyes. We want it bad!
