Roadside Find: You’re Doing It Wrong – V8 S10 Truck

Roadside Find: You’re Doing It Wrong – V8 S10 Truck

We spotted this gem on the side of the road in Bowling Green, Kentucky. It was parked in front of the drug store, appropriately enough. We had never really considered the fact that someone could do a V8 S10 “wrong” but this one certainly is, on virtually all levels. Other than the wheels, which we kind of liked, the rest is a hot mess.

Our favorite part of analyzing this thing is looking at the grill which was sourced from a Cadillac Seville. There was actually a moment, when the person who put this thing together looked at the front of the truck and thought, “I KNOW what this thing needs! A Seville grill!”

Then there are the cut front fenders, the narrowed bed, the spiderweb thing in the back window, and the flamed thing-a-majig on the dash.

On a scale of one to ten, ten being so gnarly you want to crush it, what’s your rating?

I can do the narrowed bed, and perhaps even the cut front fenders, but the grille is absolutely outlandish. Another thing I cannot do on pickup trucks is a chopped top, unless it is some ’30s or ’40s era truck. Slab-sided trucks with chopped tops just do not look proportionately proper to me.

I like all of it except from the front wheels forward. The front frame work, headlights, bumper and grill all look pretty hideous…….

There appears to be a wrench welded to the left side of the hood. Why do people with enough welding skill to narrow a pickup bed and chop a late model top so often create hideous monstrosities like this?

replace the front sheet metal and bumper, put a stock width bed on it, and now you have a lowered – chopped parts runner…but as it sits, I can’t see cruising it w/o a rainbow afro and gorrilla mask to fully hide my identity.

I LOVE IT !!! But if it became mine I would change a few things here and there to finish the project,…. It’s gotta be lowered. Way low. Get rid of the side pipes. Ford type of low profile hood scoop, Clean un-bent hood metal. Some sort of fender extensions, so it’s sort of like those 1930 or 40’s ford trucks…. A good Rat Rod with some mods.
