Tanner Foust’s captain insano jump at the Indy 500 came off without a hitch. The truck flew to a new world record and the crowd went nuts. After watching the jump it is easy to think that stunts like this are so well scienced out now that they just work themselves out. You’d be wrong about that.
The video below shows a test jump that nearly ended in the worst way possible for Foust. As you’ll see, he botches the launch speed of the jump and the truck begins a sickening front roll that reached near vertical status as the front wheels hit the ramp. If this thing actually pulled off the endo it was trying to, things would have gotten very ugly for Foust in a hurry!

I’m not sure which is more amazing, him saving that, or the camera man the didn’t go running and screaming when he looped the truck right in front of the camera near the edge of the pavement.
