Rumor Mill: Jeep Red Rock To Make It To Production? Yes And No…They Are Making Some, But You Better Get In Line Now…

One of the more interesting vehicles in Mopar’s display at SEMA was the Jeep Wrangler Red Rock concept. Sitting on 35″ tires and looking for all intents and purposes like an already-modified JK four-door, it wasn’t much of a stretch to think that FCA could put something like that into production with minimal work and sell every last one they made. According to FCA’s bean counters, the Wrangler is the most modified vehicle in their lineup, with an almost 100% modification rate (at least one item) per vehicle. That means that a special edition Jeep should sell itself, and to be honest – and coming from someone who really isn’t all that into Jeeps – even I was drooling. But it’s a concept, like pretty much everything else on the stand, right?

Apparently not. According to FCA’s own blog, a limited run of 50 Red Rocks are slated for next year with pre-orders being taken sometime early in 2016. And that doesn’t quite sit well with us. We understand special editions and how they work just fine, but check out the options list parts that are worth mentioning: next-generation Dana 44s front and rear, rock rails, vented hood, 2″ lift, the 35″ BFGoodrich KO2 All-Terrains, and tow hooks. If comfort is your thing, then the Katzkin leather interior should appeal as well. And they’re only making fifty of them. Jeep, that’s a tease. You want to make some money? Do a real run of special edition vehicles…say 500 each of the Red Rock four door Wranglers and the even tastier Red Rock Responder (pictured below) with the tool kits and storage spaces and see what that does for your bottom line. Bet you can’t keep them on the showroom floor if you don’t price them through the roof.
