(Photos by Chad Reynolds) – As the week wears on during SCTA Bonneville Speed Week 2018, some really interesting stories are developing. Yesterday the Flashpoint streamliner made its best run ever, achieving a speed of 415mph before kicking the blower belt off its hemi engine. The Speed Demon has a fixed up “A” engine installed and will be lining up this morning to run as hard and fast as it’ll go with the aim being achieving a speed of more than 470mph to take home the Hot Rod Magazine Top Time trophy honors. Amazingly, a new streamliner showed up on the salt yesterday and will be making shakedown runs today. This has been the most insane Speed Week in recent memory with nearly a half dozen vehicles running 400+ mph and scads more running well over 300.
Chad is still on the salt and will report on any breaking news from today’s action. Will the mighty Speed Demon take back the Hot Rod trophy honors in the 11th hour? Will the Flashpoint finally achieve the record setting glory it was designed and built for? Will any other full bodied cars touch 300mph again?

Soooo you like red Chevy’s rite?
Gotta love it. The motors are assembled in clean rooms and spend their pre-race life in a sealed plastic bag. Then to Bonneville and all is wide open to the salt and dirt! Very cool stuff. Probably some of the most dedicated and passionate racers alive race on the salt.
