In a technological break through you will only here about on BangShift, General Motors pulled the cloak back on an engine that we had heard rumors about for years. Below you will see photos of the all polymer 427ci LS engine the company will use to reduce vehicle weight, increase gas mileage, and add to their level of “green-ness”. While we couldn’t get anyone from GM to answer our questions regarding this skunk works project, we did a close inspection of the unit and can report that it will use a plastic block and heads, metal internals, a carb, iron exhaust manifolds, and will be happy to swallow boost or nitrous.
The longtime downfall of plastic engines has been their inability to resist flaming death, especially in the combustion chamber area which is constantly being blasted with fire. Normally after less than one minute of run time these engines are molten puddles of goo that smell like a torched trash bag. Insider sources at GM have told us that this engine will live for as long as 10 minutes before catching fire and burning the entire vehicle to the ground in a violent, flaming fury. Supposedly asbestos is used liberally in those areas that need heat protection the most…for 10 minutes anyway.
Scroll down to see a couple photos of this wonder. Screw electric cars…we want plastic V8 muscle cars!
IF YOU BELIEVED ANY OF THIS WAS REAL, PLEASE DO EVERYONE A FAVOR AND GO BACK TO 4TH GRADE.
Maybe when compressed-water combustion is perfected, the polymer engines will have greater longevity…
Is Sheldon Cooper (Big Bang Theory) involved with GM’s project?
By the way, what is engraved on the valley cover?
There appears to be an F and an O near the front.
What letters follow?
Is there an inside joke or slam on another manufacturer involved?
Hey Brian……Most of us cant go to the SEMA Show. So we sit and wait for folks like you to show us all the cool stuff. Is this really it?
Remember to run this story again on April fools day.
I think I knew this was bunk by 4th grade, by the way. My buddy down the street had one of those V8 engine models and I was like, “there’s no freakin way this thing would work in a car.” So, yeah. I had that going on at the time.
GM has partnered with the manufacturer of Power Wheels to give the PW Corvette some stones.
Revell would make a fortune to duplicate this as the new “Visible V-8”.
Yeah really, don’t you believe it!! it’s just a diversion, they are working on one using a new type of paper mache, some say it’s used obama asswipe and it will be fueled by BS.
I personally don’t think it will hold up to public scrutiny, as a little democracy will dissolve it.
I also think the whole thing stinks too much to be of any real use to us…
