Shocker: Ford Sales Up 30% in December

Good news for fans of the Ford brand. Sales jumped 30% in December and magically, incentive spending dropped. This is a suprisingly good sign and another tell tale that the company has a strong and desirable product line that people have taken notice of. In yet more good news the company managed to increase their marketshare over the last year by 1.1%. Lots of companies would love to have such news to brag on.

In a story we found on the Detroit Free Press website that took a look back over last year’s sales, Ford is definitely looking the best out of the domestic companies. Overall for the auto industry there was some bright news because sales were up 15% in December over the figures from 2008.

While there is bright news for Ford, there is ominous news for Chrysler. The company had it’s lowest volume sales year since 1959. The sold 931,402 vehicles in 2009 and are now managing their improvements on a month to month basis according to a company spokeswoman quoted in the story.

We’d be completely shocked to see any sort of turn around for Chrysler until the Fiat import models are ready and the company goes into full media blitz mode. From now until then it seems that the only thing the company will concern themselves with is to keep their tourniquets tight to minimize the bleeding.
