American Powertrain Announces New X-Factor Cross Member for 1964-1967 GM A-Bodies

Cross members are certainly unappreciated parts, until you need one that fits your specific project. If you are swapping the trans, adding larger or dual exhaust, changing engines, etc, chances are, the stock cross member in your car will no longer be the right solution for you. Sure, you can hack that one up, drill it like swiss cheese, or heat it and bend it as necessary, but our experience is that you still won’t be fully satisfied with the results. Enter American Powertrain and their line of X-Factor cross members. These babies are designed by application and their newest release is an X-Factor for early 1964-1967 GM A-bodies.

These babies are designed to accommodate a bunch of different manual and automatic transmissions, is tight enough to allow large diameter dual exhaust with no issues, and can withstand the punishment of 1,000hp. What more could you possibly want?!

Here’s the release from American Powertrain!

Hot on the heels of the introduction of the 2nd Gen A-body X-factor cross member, American Powertrain has readied a brand new model for the 1st Gen A-body.  The new X-factor fits any 1964-67 GM A-body hardtop for mounting a wide variety of trannies including the TREMEC TKO/Magnum, Muncie, T10, Richmond 5/6-speed, T350, T400, Powerglide, 700r4 and 4l60e and more.  The Gen 1 A-body X-Factor is made from T6061 aluminum and features their modular design that provides light weight, tons of exhaust clearance and 1000hp certification.  Initial production features black powder coating, with silver coming later this year.  Every X-Factor is backed by American Powertrain’s lifetime warranty and their Customer First 24-hour installation support.  Available now on their website, www.americanpowertrain.com or by calling them at 931.646.4836 ext 201.
