American Powertrain is one of the neatest companies in the aftermarket. Few people truly understand what these guys do in their Tennessee shop but thanks to the guys from the Engine Power television show, everyone can now get a very clear picture. From the crossmembers and swap kits people have been using for years to add stick shift transmissions to their cars, American Powertrain is also in the clutch business, they modify both the exterior and interior of Tremec transmissions, and they are constantly developing new parts and solutions for hot rodders looking to add the fun and performance of a manual transmission to their ride.
This video is more than a quick swipe over the shop. You are actually going to see some neat stuff, like how American Powertrain modifies the internal components of some transmissions for customers that are running high power levels in abuse environments. Also, you’ll see how they modify the cases of transmissions to make them easier to install in applications they were never intended for from the factory (classic Corvettes, 1960s muscle, etc). There is a lot more to what these guys do than simply shipping you a new Tremec just as it was shipped to them.
This is a cool video and we think you’ll dig the shop tour as well as the tech information provided. We sure did.
