Survey Says Americans Crave Turbos

Survey Says Americans Crave Turbos

If a company that manufactures turbochargers administered a survey asking Americans about their view of turbochargers, what do you think the results would be? If you guessed overwhelmingly positive, you’d be right! Honeywell, which is supplying the turbos to Ford for the EcoBoost engines, conducted the survey that revealed lots of Americans had no idea they wanted a turbocharged car so badly!

The survey found that fuel economy is a larger factor in buying deicisons of people these days and will continue to be from this point on. It also revealed that 90 percent of the people surveyed had heard of a turbocharger, but few knew what it actually did. Once being told of its magical powers, everyone wanted one!

We’re not suprised about the disparity of people knowing what a turbo is and not knowing what it does. The term “turbo” is commonly used in lots of different places to denote a performance enhancement of some kind. Hell, Dunkin Donuts offers a “turbo shot” of espresso that can be dumped into your coffee to spruce it up.

Reuters picked up the story and you can read about it here.
