Tata Nano: Tiny $2,000 Car to See Indian Roads by July

The little Tata Nano, a new car that will retail for less than $2,000 brand new, is set to cruise Indian roads in July according to a story by Reuters.

Parent company Tata has been struggling as of late and there was some doubt that the car would see the road but despite a massive debt load from the purchase of Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford, strikes by plant workers in India, and the horrific state of global economics, this car is still coming.

Environmentalists are having a cow because the thought of adding millions of cars to India’s roads with little or no regulation with respect to emissions is not exactly a good thing in their eyes. People within India are panicking because their roads are already an unholy mess with the relatively few cars they have. If you’re not dodging cows, people on scooters, or trucks, you’ve probably driven off the road into someone’s yard.

Indian police must be gearing up as well, seeing as the number of traffic accidents will most certainly be on the rise. Because there are no safety standards and because the car measures less than 10 feet long, they better stock up on body bags as well.

Ratan Tata, the head of the company, made illusions of bringing this car to other markets across the world, but we think after the safety and emissions testing was done, they’d not cost $2,000 but closer to $20,000.

The YouTube videos will be epic.
