It seems like there are times when the gas in your garden tools, lawn tractor, or generator goes bad in just days. The reality is that if you use them regularly there are no issues, but old fuel is not good and the fuel that now has 10% ethanol in it seems to gel up and ruin small engine carburetors in a hurry. But with that said, I’ve also had vehicles sit for over a year with a partial tank of gas, and when we start it back up it runs and drives fine with no issues. I have no clue how it all works, because sometimes it just doesn’t make sense.
If you are going to be leaving an engine sitting, like you would over the winter in colder states, adding fuel stabilizer is always recommended. But is any of it actually doing something? Or is it snake oil?
Here’s the conclusive test.
Video Description:
STA-BIL, Star Tron, Yamalube, K100, SeaFoam, Marvel Mystery Oil, Fuel/2 Stroke Oil Premix, and Untreated fuel compared for freshness, ability to protect metal from corrosion, and prevent rubber from hardening after 3 years. Subsequently, I tested a new batch of fuel for an additional 20 months. From start to finish, this review took over 5 years.
I purchased all of the fuel stabilizers and the products used to review the stabilizers to ensure an unbiased review. So, thank you for supporting the channel.
