If you haven’t once said that you wished you had a CNC plasma cutting table, then you aren’t a car builder. I realize that not everyone can have one, I certainly don’t, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want one. Hell, even if you only need one once in a while you still see them on videos and wish you had one. But what if you could build one yourself, really easily, for around $600 INCLUDING THE PLASMA CUTTER. Brent from Halfass Kustoms was working on such a project recently to see if he could make something work that already had the key elements. And he sorta did. You need to check this out.
Brent’s idea was to take a readily available, and cheap, CNC laser engraver and pair it with an equally cheap plasma cutter, all bought off Amazon. Not only did he think he could attach the plasma torch to the laser engraver’s head, but that then the software for the laser engraver could be used to control the entire unit. It’s a pretty smart idea, and might make for a pretty cool setup that you could just sit on top of the material you want to cut.
Check out the entire build process, including full instructions, and see what you think of the results. If you already have a plasma cutter in your garage then this might be the cheapest possible way to get some CNC going on.
Watch.
