Ian Johnson is one of those guys that you almost never find behind the wheel of anything “average”. He’s more likely to be driving something with some rock rash and personality. So you can imagine that a Land Rover Discovery is probably not on his top 10 list of vehicles to own. To be fair, a Disco is an incredibly capable off-road rig, but they are not the style of ride that you’ll find on many heavy rock crawling and hill climbing trails.
But when your friend wants you to build him a cool Land Rover, and you are Ian Johnson, then you build a really cool Land Rover.

I have never been a fan of Land Rover Defenders, but I have a friend who is an absolute nut for them. And when I saw the latest body offering from Aqualu and how similar it is to the Land Rover 110, I knew that my friend would LOVE it. This is a vehicle that I actually built for someone else right from the start, so it didn’t fall into the same style of some of my other builds. But I love how it turned out.
