Ian Is Back At It In The Big Tire Garage, Welding Link Brackets To A Couple Axle Housings

For some reason, you find a lot of hesitation when it comes to welding things to axle housings. People that do a lot of other fabrication are often scared to do this one. I understand, as people are afraid of warping the housing, but that’s not a big concern when welding on small things like link brackets. If you were welding a truss or something like that, you’d want to either put an alignment bar through the axle housing, fixture mount it, and brace it to your welding table, or both. But this is just brackets, so weld away.

With that said, making sure you keep your brackets straight so that whatever is going to mount to them will fit, is key. In this video you are going to get info on both scenarios from Ian, so check it out and learn stuff.

What does watching videos like this do for your inspiration? Does it inspire you to build something more extreme?
