I live in Dallas now and can tell you that it is “colder” here during the winter than in Southern California, but not anywhere near cold like some of you folks get up north. If I lived up north where it got truly cold, I think something like this wood burning stove would be a project I’d be down for making in the garage one day. With the exception of a couple small parts that were bought, the rest is all just scrap and parts from the wheels themselves. Hell, I watched this cool video and already thought of a dozen other things I’d do to make it different. What do you think?
I think if this little stove was sitting in the corner of your shop or the living room of a little cabin you’d be pretty popular for having the warmest place around. Someone make one, or send us pictures of the one you’ve already made, so we can enjoy yours too!
Slick. I love wood heat and if you cut your own wood, it truly does warm you twice.
Not a good stove, more like a burn barrel. You need thick steel or cast iron, and fire bricks to capture and radiate the heat.
We have one in our big ( 25 people) Bathurst tent. Keeps us cozy & warm. 2 deg C outside, 18 inside and if you rest your boots on it you’ll melt the soles.
Made from truck brake drums. and a steel flue
