Welding a broken forged front solid axle back together to go under a big dumper truck hauling cement and gravel is not something that would cross my mind normally. While I understand that it CAN be welded back together, I certainly don’t think it SHOULD be welded back together. With that said, if you live somewhere that doesn’t just have axles sitting on the shelf, you fix what you’ve got!
In this video from the Pakistani truck guys you are going to see some pretty basic tools making these two pieces of forged straight axle become one so it can go back on the front of this truck.
Is there Harbor Freight in Pakistan? Somebody get that guy a welding helmet.
In the good old USA where everything is disposable and we repair practically nothing, nobody would dream of doing that repair. People used to fix anything they could. Now we just trash it and move on, great ain’t it?
