Metal Fab At Home: Twisting Square Bar Like Indian Larry Is Awesome And Would Be Rad For A Project

As you well know, we dig the Make It Kustom YouTube channels that Karl Fisher has started, not only because he’s a cool dude that has good taste in hot rods, but mostly because he’s so willing to teach what he knows to all of us. And Karl is a young dude, with lots of career in front of him. I love his passion, his eye, and his ability to get the lesson to make sense quickly. I also like that he shares his inspiration, which in this case in Indian Larry, the famed Motorcycle builder. Indian Larry often used wrought iron and custom forged pieces on his bikes and they were unique because of it. Larry was a character at all kinds of levels, but had an eye that made him one of a kind.

In this video Karl shows us how to twist square steel bar in a back and forth pattern that creates a truly unique patterned piece that is strong and cool and makes a big difference in the look for your project. It can be done with other materials as well, but the process is the key. Check it out, because Karl shows that it doesn’t take much with regards to tools to make this happen. Literally a crescent wrench, a torch, and a vise. Check it out below.
