Metalworking How To: Make Body Mounts From Scratch With Simple Tools And Some Sheet Metal

If you own a Camaro, Mustang, Chevelle, Challenger, or any other popular car or truck it is likely that replacement sheet metal is available for just about all of it. So if you find yourself needing to replace body mounts, floor pans, or anything else on them it often requires nothing more than ordering them online and then using a grinder and a welder to get them installed. But if you have a project that doesn’t have this kind of aftermarket support, then you have to pay someone to make what you need and install it, buy a parts car to harvest stuff off of, or scab something else together. But what if you could make these new parts yourself, in your garage, with simple tools and a few bucks worth of sheet metal?

That’s what Fitzee is all about. He’s not only good at making patch panels and such for normal areas on the car, but also for fixing the weird spots. He often shows how to make factory looking indentations, factory style double up panels and pinch welds, etc while only using normal tools and a welder. Nothing fancy here. But don’t take my word for it, watch this video. In this one he is taking the opportunity to share some wisdom with us while he makes new body mounts on this project.
