Sharpening Tungsten Correctly, And Using The Right Cup, Can Be The Difference Between Okay And Awesome TIG Welds

Sharpening Tungsten Correctly, And Using The Right Cup, Can Be The Difference Between Okay And Awesome TIG Welds

Sometimes it is hard to know what to believe when it comes to welding prep. I say this, because sometimes the things you hear sound so weird that they couldn’t possibly be true. Other things just don’t make sense. I mean how can the shape of your tungsten, or which direction you grind it, really make a difference in your welds. Well, electricity is an interesting thing and that’s what makes MIG and TIG welding possible. Of course there is more too it than that, and gas control is one of those other things that make a weld possible vs pretty. Don’t get me wrong, pretty alone does not make a good weld, but a strong and pretty weld is the best kind and should always be the goal of any welder regardless of experience level.

In this video you are going to get some great advice and information about proper tungsten preparation and TIG cups as well from a guy who’s shop puts down A LOT of TIG welds each month. They kinda know what they are doing, so we’ll gladly take any advice they can give. This is part 7 in the Fabrication Series from Tim McAmis Race Cars, so check it out and enjoy.
