When Fitzee shows us how to do sheet metal repair and fabrication we come out as better people. Not only does he show great techniques, but he does so without the use of fancy tools and while also convincing all of us watching that we can do it ourselves. He’s so encouraging and inspiring that you just want to make stuff from sheet metal when you watch his videos. In this video he’s going over a very complex shape that he needs to recreate due to rust and he’ll do this from multiple pieces so that you don’t have to make one big complex shape, but rather small shapes that are easier to duplicate.
He also talks about materials, specifically the gauge, or thickness, of material to use on this kind of repair and why. There are times when thicker material is a good thing and something where that makes things more difficult. Pay and attention and he’ll explain the hows and whys.
He also goes over problems you might see, and issues you might create, and not only how to avoid those but also how to fix them when you do come across them. This is good stuff. Watch.
