Spray Paint Shootout: Which Spray Paint Really Is The Best? Or Are They All About The Same?

Spray Paint Shootout: Which Spray Paint Really Is The Best? Or Are They All About The Same?

If you are like me then when you go to the store and buy spray paint you are always wondering why you are paying so much more for a name brand paint, and wondering if there really is a difference. When it comes time to buy specialty paints like high temp for headers, specialty finishes, etc there isn’t really much question, but when all you are doing is buying semi-gloss black to paint some inner fenders with the questions comes up. I’ve bought them all, at every price point, and I can tell you that I’ve had the cheap stuff last and I’ve had it fail. I’ve had the pricier stuff look like crap, and I’ve had it look great. I don’t know that there is a cut and dry answer for my average spray paint needs, but I’m sure with equal prep there must be a difference. Or is there?

In this video from Project Farm there are 8 different brands of spray paint being put through their paces to see if one stand out above the rest. Watch and let us know how your favorite brand stacks up.

Video Description:

Brands Tested: Rustoleum Pro, Valspar, ColorPlace, Krylon, Sherwin Williams, Rustoleum 2X, Majic Paints and Seymour. The paints were tested on a vehicle and on metal panels and then compared for chip resistance, paint fade over an entire year, scratch resistance, and rust blocking. I purchased all of the products tested to ensure an unbiased review.
