Hammer forming is a really fun and cool metal shaping technique that involves using a couple pieces of sheet material, which can be wood, or metal, to make a pattern template that can be followed with either hand tools or a power hammer like is being used in this video. We’ve shared other hammer forming videos before, as Karl Fisher at Make It Kustom is a big fan of the technique, but this one here is from someone new to us, a little channel called Outcast Customs. Check out his technique and let me know what you think.
Keep in mind as you watch this, that if you didn’t have a power hammer, you could do this by hand. It would take some work, and I’d have some suggestions on how to be as efficient as possible, but you can really do some cool stuff with this kind of forming template. This panel in the video is with large hammer formed “windows” but the reality is you can do some smaller stuff as well.
Tell us what you think.
