This Downdraft Grinding Table Project Is Too Cool And Will Keep Your Shop Clean And Free Of Grinding Dust

The worst part about fabricating and grinding in your own shop is the fact that grinding dust and grime ends up all over the place. In fact, that’s why I’m currently planning a shop build that includes a completely separate shop space for fab and work shop, with parking for finished cars in a separate area. Even my junk looks better without grinding dust all over it, so I’m doing what I can to keep the clean clean and the dirty from contaminating it. One of the coolest things you can add to your shop for dealing with stuff like grinding dust is to get a downdraft grinding table. But they ain’t cheap! So what if you could make one yourself? Well, this is your shot. Watch this.

You not only will end up with a killer downdraft table that works awesome, but you’ll also get cleaner fresher nicer air in your shop that is way better for you to breath! Yep it pays off in keeping the shop clean and the air clean so you benefit from more than a reduction in shop cleaning time.

But besides being a great addition to the shop, this one is also a project that can be a really fun one to build and customize on the cheap. This table cost just over $400 to complete, and even outfitted with some options that don’t make it anymore functional it still comes in below $500. That’s pretty darn good when you consider that most of these downdraft grinding tables cost somewhere around $1000 to $3000. That’s a lot of money savings!
