Welding Thick Material To Thin Material Doesn’t Have To Be That Hard

Welding Thick Material To Thin Material Doesn’t Have To Be That Hard

The other day my son Cole asked me how you weld thick material to thin material. Of course the question was quite a bit wordier than that, and because I was welding something I didn’t want to spend time with the finer points of the explanation, so I told him it has to do with how and where you concentrate the heat and how you move the torch head. I was MIG welding when he asked, and that was what he was referencing, but the same rules apply to TIG welding like in the video below. This one is front Justin at The Fabrication Series and is a pretty solid explanation on what you need to consider and do to weld thin to thick, like in the case of a header flange and tubes. Watch and let us know what you think.

What welding videos would you like us to produce here at BANGshift as well?
