Who Makes The Best Center Punch? Automatic And Manual! Let’s Settle This! Snap On vs Starrett vs Proto And Many More!

Who Makes The Best Center Punch? Automatic And Manual! Let’s Settle This! Snap On vs Starrett vs Proto And Many More!

I’m kind of picky about my center punches, and while I’ve owned a bunch of cheap ones, when you have a good one you kind of question why you didn’t get it sooner. I like both automatic, or spring-loaded type center punches, and the good old-fashioned ones that you have to hit with a hammer. In this video from Project Farm you’ll see testing, measuring, and more to determine who makes both the best manual and the best automatic center punch. I can tell you that there is a difference, and depending on what you are doing with them, you probably will be able to keep some of these to pass on to your grandkids.

A couple of years ago I was blown away when I found a type of center punch I’d never seen before, that instead of being pushed until it clicked, had an external spring that you stretched and released to make an automatic punch mark. It became my favorite style of automatic punch and one of the oldest in existence. It works well, and I dig it. The best part was that it was not expensive. Sure it cost a couple of times what the cheapo gold clicker type is we all see for sale for just a couple dollars, but it wasn’t bad and is well worth it. Sometimes good tools make a huge difference and sometimes they are not a big difference in price. Watch the comparisons below.

Video Description:

Automatic & Manual Center Punch Brands: Snap On, Starrett, Stahlwille, Proto, Hazet, GearWrench, Williams, Klein Tools, Wilde Tool, Mayhew Tools, Sabrecut, General Tools, Neiko, Spring Tools, Lisle, Mulwark. Punches compared for performance on Aluminum and Mild, Medium, and Hard Steel. Results are very interesting with a huge variance in performance and durability. I bought all of the center punches and all of the supplies used to test the punches to ensure an unbiased review. So, thank you for supporting the channel!
