The 2009 GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout is Coming

We just got confirmation via email that the GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout drag race will return to Memphis for the third time in October. The official press release says it best:

3nd Annual GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout Announced!

The NMCA and GM Performance Parts are excited to announce the 3rd Annual GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout®, which will occur at Memphis Motorsports Park near Memphis, Tenn, the weekend of October 15-18, 2009. The event, held in conjunction with the NMCA World Finals, is the largest LS gathering in the U.S.  The LSX Shootout features awesome heads-up racing for the fastest LS-powered cars in the world, index-style racing for competitors of all levels, a dyno shootout to see who can make the most LS power, and a giant all LS-powered auto show and shine.  This is “the” LS event of the year, with over $50,000 in cash and prizes, and it’s brought to you by GM Performance Parts.  Presenting sponsor, Source Interlink’s GM High-Tech Performance magazine, will produce the official LSX Shootout Fan Guide as well as rules and event press releases leading up to the LSX Shootout.

The LSX Shootout’s heads-up classes include LSX Drag Radial and LSX All Motor, both of which are wheels-up and hardcore. All the cars and all the stars of the LS segment are featured in these two fan-favorite race categories.  The Shootout also features two classes for mild to wild street-type LS-powered vehicles, LSX Rumble and LSX True Street.  The LSX Rumble class allows racers to pick their index, matching their street machine up against some of the fastest cars in the country.  All racers competing in LSX Rumble may also compete for free in the LSX True Street Challenge class on Saturday. Travel through the countryside of Tennessee, then bring your LS-powered musclecar, truck or SUV back to the track for a three-run showdown to determine who has the baddest LSX true street car in the world!  All class winners will receive big bucks, an LSX block, and the coveted winners jacket courtesy of GM Performance Parts and their host dealer, Scoggin -Dickey Parts Center.

New for 2009, $4,000 in cash will be given away by Scoggin-Dickey as a part of their “Average Joe” awards.  $1,000 is up for grabs in Drag Radial and All Motor to the “Average Joes,” racers in the middle of the pack in each race category at the end of Saturday’s qualifying.   For the LSX Rumble class a $1,000 Average Joe award will be given to the racer who qualifies right in the middle of the pack, and in LSX True Street the $1,000 Average Joe award will go to a racer whose 3-run average is, again, right in the middle.

Are you ready to put your LSX engine to the test?  Do you want to challenge a horsepower claim that you don’t believe?  If so, then enter the LSX Dyno Shootout.  $1,000 is up for grabs to whoever can lay down the most horsepower at the GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout.

For you LSX car show fans, the 3rd Annual GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout will feature a special 2-day auto show & shine with over 50 awards for LS-powered musclecars, trucks & SUVS.  Awards include:  best 2010 Camaro, best LS-powered late-model Camaro, Firebird, GTO, Corvette, Cadillac, Truck/SUV and vintage LS-powered specialty vehicle; best paint, interior, engine, and stance; editor’s choice awards from GM High-Tech Performance, FSC, LS1Tech.com, and PlanetLSX.com; Top 20 LS Muscle Cars; 6′ LSX Best of Show trophy on Sunday only.  The huge LSX auto show & shine is just one more way you can participate with your LS-powered vehicle at the LSX Shootout.
