The Marathon: NASCAR Will Run Seven Races In Less Than Two Weeks In Real Life

The Marathon: NASCAR Will Run Seven Races In Less Than Two Weeks In Real Life

Holy hell, talk about catching up. With the world starting to show signs of motion after being down with the sickness for the last month and a half, many are eager to get out there and get back to a semblance of normalcy. Economies are opening up, events are hesitatingly starting to be scheduled, and anyone who has motor oil pumping in their veins is ready to get away from the video games and onto the real track surface. Well…maybe. After looking at NASCAR’s upcoming schedule, something tells me that the teams might be gearing up for what is tantamount to a hardcore military training session.

After four races completed in the 2020 season, including the wild Daytona 500 that saw Ryan Newman’s horrific crash just before the checkered flag dropped, NASCAR made the call to postpone the races, including two that originally were supposed to be “no fans present” races, and since then drivers have been on iRacing events with varying degrees of success…and a few cases of foot-in-mouth disease. But starting May 17, 2020, things will get very busy, very quick for all of the teams involved, and not just the Cup competitors in the top league, either. Here’s the rundown:

  • May 17, 2020: Darlington Raceway (Cup)
  • May 20, 2020: Darlington Raceway (Xfinity AND Cup races!)
  • May 24, 2020: Charlotte Motor Speedway (Cup)
  • May 25, 2020: Charlotte Motor Speedway (Xfinity)
  • May 26, 2020: Charlotte Motor Speedway (Trucks)
  • May 27, 2020: Charlotte Motor Speedway (Cup)

Not that NASCAR isn’t a competitive situation normally, but back-to-back races like this will take a toll on the drivers, teams and equipment. If you don’t think driving one of these race cars is a big deal, I can promise you that eight minutes alone will rewrite what it means to “drive a car”, and that a few hours in hot and humid conditions will kick you in the chest. You can measure the weight loss just from sweat alone on a driver before and after the race.

Best of luck, drivers. It’s gonna be a grind!

  1. DG30

    1. Watch 10 ASSCAR races in 10 days.

    2. Intentionally get your manhood caught in the PTO of a tractor and have to change your name to Caitlyn.

    I’ll go with option 2.
