Tobey Maguire is set to star in a movie version of an upcoming book called Limit by Michael Cannell that follows Phil Hill and Ferrari teammate Wolfgang Von Trips through the 1961 F1 season that would see Von Trips killed and Hill crowned the champion.

Hill passed not too long ago, but his accomplishments as one of the greatest American racing car drivers of all time can and should make for a great movie.

This story is fantastic. We just hope that it does not get rendered into pure cheese on the big screen. There have been fewer good racing movies than bad ones, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed.

When the book comes out we’re going to snag a copy and report back on how it reads. The film version has a long way to go as a screenwriter has just recently signed on to the project so it will be a couple years until this thing sees the light of day, if everything goes right.
