When it comes to their producti lineup, Nissan has needed to find a gear and get to it. Several of their product lines are dated, especially the Frontier, their small truck, and the Z-car coupe, which has been banging around in one form or another in it’s current form since 2009, and more-or-less the same since the 350Z showed up in 2002. The rest of the lineup isn’t fairing much better, and that’s well before we discuss the turmoil the company has been in for the last couple of years. The company needs a hit, and they need one badly, so it’s good to see any sign of life from the company that doesn’t include the grimace while uttering Carlos Ghosn’s name.
In this teaser video, Nissan showed off eleven vehicles that are either refreshed or new. The big hits include the new Z-car, rumored to show up as the 400Z; the next-generation Frontier; and the Ariya, an all-electric crossover. Other vehicles shown include the Armada, the Kicks, the Murano, the Pathfinder, the Rogue Sport (read: Qashqai), the Rouge, as well as a couple of vehicles we won’t be getting, like the Navara pickup, the Versa Note, and the X-Trail. The Frontier and the Z have our attention the most…the Frontier pickup has been a long-standing stalwart, familiar but aged, while the Z needed something to move it forward. We like what we see in the little sporty thing so far and if Hiroshi “Mr. GT-R” Tamura has indeed gotten his way, it’ll be something worth the praise it’ll surely get automatically.
