100% BangShift Approved Video: Firing Up a Radial Airplane Engine Powered Toyota MR2

We normally don’t post a lot of stuff on the weekend because we’re usually out getting our BangShift on like the rest of you, but there are some “stop the presses moments” and this is one of them! Scott Clark posted a link to video of a Toyota MR2 which has been outfitted with a radial airplane engine, firing up. You may have seen photos of this car floating around the web for a while, but this is video of the bad ass toy starting up!

The car is slated to compete in a 24 Hours of Lemons event, if you can believe that! It’ll be the loudest sonofabitch at the place, by a lot. The motor dates from the 1940s and was found in military training planes. It makes somewhere around 165hp, according to what we have read. Oh, and the totally badder asser part? This glorious lunatic equipped the engine with MegaSquirt electronic fuel injection! Like we said, 100% BangShift approved!

Thanks for the tip Scott!

Anyway, no more blabbering, here’s the video.
