You thought we were done with “displacement days”?! You are wrong! There’s still some good stuff to talk about when it comes to engines and dates. As it turns out 5/21 is a great day for those Ford fans out there who love themselves some stroker big block displacement! You can start with a 460ci 385-series block and with some magic from the machine shop in the bores and a longer arm in the bottom of the block, end up with 521ci. No replacement for displacement, right?
The engine that is featured here may be more mild than a blown or nitrous injected combo but when you see where this thing makes power and how much it makes, you’ll understand why we picked it to feature on this date. 600+ horsepower is big fun no matter what you are driving and 600+ lb-ft of torque is real entertainment value, especially when it comes at a nice, low usable RPM window.
If we had ourselves a nice big old Ford sedan or perhaps a vintage Ford pickup that we wanted to make into a fun car at the drags and an absolutely riotous car on the street.
