Action Video: Watch Jimmie Lynch Torture A 1936 Plymouth!

When it comes to “Best job to talk about at a party”, stunt driver must rank pretty far up the list. Sure, being an astronaut would take the cake and being a doctor isn’t shabby by any means, but it’s not like you get launched into space every day, and the job of a doctor more often than not entails long, tiring hours rather than life-saving surgeries.

Being paid to attempt to drive the wheels off of a car, however, is something that you can do all day every day, and that’s why the job of stunt driver must rule.

While being a stunt driver must be a blast, being paid by a manufacturer to attempt to beat one of their cars to death on film has to be a dream come true.

Have you seen that ridiculous commercial for the latest Nissan “cupholder on wheels”, the one where a CGI version of the vehicle launches off of a ramp and drives along the roof of a moving train with the disclaimer “FANTASY, DO NOT ATTEMPT. CARS CAN’T JUMP ON TRAINS” along the bottom of the screen in huge letters? Man, that is lame.

At least we have Youtube and thus can reminisce about the days when car manufacturers actually had a set and weren’t afraid of proving how tough their cars were by handing the keys to a professional driver and telling him or her to go at it.

Here’s where Jimmie Lynch of the Death Dodgers comes in, as he is challenged with the task of trying to kill a brand new 1936 Plymouth while a narrator gleefully describes what makes the car so tough. This isn’t your typical modern “Watch this car go up a steep hill with ease, either, as Jimmy (sans helmet for a good portion of the video) attempts to flip, roll, and do whatever else he can think of to this Mopar.

Short and sweet, this video is awesome and 100% BangShift approved.

Very impressive – I have to wonder how a modern car would do with the railroad test or off-roading part of that video. Probably not nearly as well.
