If you’re in North America, t’s rainy, it’s cold, and that’s if you’re lucky enough to not be set in with snow and ice. Lohnes might be able to tolerate this freezing crap well, but I don’t. Wintertime is fix and build time for me, mainly because there isn’t jack-all else to do during this season and it keeps me indoors. However, our mates Down Under are living up the summer in the only way they know how, by culling the herd of wild tires (sorry, tyres) laying around in a violent and loud fashion. So, as I go warm up some cider on the stove and settle in for the night…which came just after 4pm today…check out these burnout contest brawlers. I picked one random YouTube video for each brand:
For Ford, here’s a Cortina so ballistic that the engine pukes water out of the pipes:
For GM, I give you “WH8TN”, an evil-sounding big Holden with all the luxuries:
For the Mopar crowd, a VJ Ranger with a turbo’d 318:
And for the import guys, “Fugly2”, a Chrysler Centura with a nasty Lexus V8:
kinda did my head in referring to the Centura as an import….its a Chrysler, same as the Valiant – had the same hemi 6 for the most part too. Mind you, the lexus V8 is `importy’ and I think that the Centura started life as some kind of euro car (French maybe?) that Aussies re jigged.
The Lexus motor is where I called it. I know of a couple Toyota Hiluxes and Corollas that play the fog game down there, but I was going for the newest videos I could get my hands on, and since the thing looks like a Hillman to me, that’s where it ended up. “Aussie Mopar” to me is Charger or maybe one of the CKD AMC kits that got sent over.
Its probably a mitishibi under all the badge engineering, there are “Chrysler” galants that are just re badged mitishibi so i think the same going on here
