Eastlake, Ohio’s Mike Charlton is a man of action, not empty words. He’s build and ridden his supercharged V8 exhibition drag bike for years. He constructed a jet powered semi-truck for drag strip exhibitions, and his latest and most emotional quest is for the motorcycle land speed record with a turbine powered bike he’s built with his brothers and friends in his own garage. A production company followed Mike and his band of brothers and buddies on their quest for the land speed record he is chasing in memory of his dad.
This is a trailer for the documentary that the production guys are trying to put out. In short, we love it. You’ll see more reality in the next couple minutes than you will in a season’s worth of schlock on the SPEED channel or anywhere else. Mike and his brothers are not choir boys. They’ve all spent time in the cooler, some more than others. They have demons, they have issues, they are unflinchingly real. They also have skills, imagination, and a hunger to honor the memory of their dead father that once dreamed about doing the very thing they are trying to accomplish.
The language is salty, and this is unvarnished stuff, but damn, we say two minutes and are dying for the whole couple hours. Share your thoughts, does this have the makings of an amazing film, or what?
