Sometimes stuff just “bubbles up” on the internet. This awesome video is proof of that. Originalyl posted in the late winter/early spring of last year we got a couple of notes via email about it yesterday and after watching it, we knew that sharing this sweet piece of homemade engineering here on BangShift. This is the magical combo of talent, slick thinking, and actually applying said thinking in real life. People like to dream stuff up all the time, but to actually see it through to reality is a different kettle of fish altogether. The builder of this engine is a doer of the highest order and this video is proof.
On the super awesome talent front, this video shows how the builder made everything from the engine case/block to the connecting rods, and the stuff he couldn’t make he designed and had made on a CNC. If you take issue with that, please leave now. The man MADE HIS OWN CONNECTING RODS AND BLOCK FOR PETE’S SAKE. As the video shows, he added the studs and lowered the VW jugs down onto the deal. Watching the process of creating the engine is one thing but seeing it actually run is another. The exposed rockers doing their thing and the sweet noise of what amounts to a seven holer VW engine is not like anything you have ever heard before. Does the guy have a plane? Hell no. He just had an idea and he made it reality. Nothing is cooler than that.
Is this the craziest home project we have ever shown here? It may be. There have been some real slobber knockers over the years but we think that this engine is in a league of its own.

Awesome wind machine! And that sound, sweet!
Now it just needs the right vehicle, hot rod, motorbike…
