Ah, the lowly GM T-car. In America this platform got exactly zero respect…Chevrolet Chevette? Pontiac T-1000? No, thank you…too small and too underpowered. Nevermind the rear-drive layout, it was a throwaway car for most. Around the world, however, GM’s rear-driven world car has some respect. In South America, in Europe and Australia, cars like the Chevy 500, Kadett and Gemini have followings and are turned into something much more than a basic economy rig. That’s why watching this L67-powered Gemini laying waste to the rear tires on the skidpad offers up not only just pure sound porn and angry burnout footage that only Australia seems to be able to provide, but build ideas. Do you remember what an Isuzu I-Mark looks like? If the Chevette hatchback shape isn’t for you and the Gemini’s sedan shape is more your speed, the I-Mark is the one you want to go for. The engine is your basic L67 takeout blower-motor V6, the transmission and drivetrain is up to you to beef up, but believe what your eyes are seeing here…the result is worth it and should be nice and light if you do it right. Do you think you’ll have to do work to the Buick V6 to make it scream like this? Of course you will, but the basic 3.8L coupled with an Eaton M90 blower unit is present here, so just picture what some internal work can do!
