Yesterday we told you about the passing of Tom Hnatiw, the very well liked and respected race announcer and TV guy. The show those of you in the USA remember Hnatiw on best was the SPEED Channel’s “Dream Car Garage”. On many episodes, he and Klutt laid the lumber to rare and high powered iron on the drag strip, street, and road course. Most of these cars came from Klutt’s stable at his Legendary Motorcars Ltd. business. In this episode the dudes step away from the rare part but keep up with the “high powered” end of things with a 588ci Roush stroker motor powered Torino built as a tribute car to the Starsky and Hutch TV show.
The best part of this video is watching Klutt hammer the sheer living daylights out of this car that was certainly not built for road course action. Watching it wallow, pitch, heave, and slide sideways through the curves is totally awesome. Seeing the two guys cracking up like high school kids that stole their dad’s car for the day is even better.
We’ve got a special piece on Tom coming in the next week or so. We really dug this dude’s personality and passion. We can only imagine how his pal Peter Klutt is taking his passing. Sucks.
Thanks to Andy Crouch for the tip on this video!
The “Stripe-ed Tomato” never looked so good! Thanks for sharing, Brian.
May you rest in peace Tom and my thanks go out to you for all the insight and entertainment you gave us over the years. My condolences go out the Hnatiw family also.
