If there is one thing more scary than a standard issue clutch explosion in a street car, it is a clutch explosion while the car is surrounded by on-lookers. In this video a Mustang is being run on a chassis dyno and shortly into the pull, smoke starts pouring out from under the car. No one seems to care about that, and seconds later, kablooey.

It’s not mentioned whether anyone was hurt by flying pieces, but flying clutch parts can easily kill someone, especially when there’s a dense group of people huddled around the car. This is why scattershields are always a good idea.
