There are some cars that ooze evil. They rock when the throttle is tapped. They lunge when the gear is selected. They have a threatening exhaust note that grabs your attention like a strangler grabbing somebody by the throat and when the throttle goes wide open, the roar that comes bellowing out of the pipes sounds like an army marching over the sound of a church’s pipe organ. To many, it’s too much noise. To us, it’s sweet, sweet overkill, the icing on the cake, the part of the show that we all pay attention to. We love those machines, the ones that don’t just stand out from the crowd, but proceed to drown the crowd out with their battle cry of burning fuel and roasting tires. Cars like “Fast” Fred Cavasini’s 1934 Ford coupe scratch the itch in a way few other cars can. It’s primal, angry, violent. It’s not for beginners, or even novices. It’s a car that has absolutely no qualms whatsoever about making you temporarily incontinent or even killing you if you allow your normal nature to take over. If you so much as blink at the throttle pedal, you’d have best be ready to see your creator, because one minute screw-up and the chances of that meeting taking place have suddenly grown exponentially.
