Classic YouTube: The School Bus/Church Bus Burnout – Because The Smoke Shouldn’t Just Be From The Engine!

Classic YouTube: The School Bus/Church Bus Burnout – Because The Smoke Shouldn’t Just Be From The Engine!

Do you remember any of the bus drivers you had growing up? I remember one: Liz. Imagine Lita Ford giving up her career as a rock musician and willfully hopping behind the wheel of an old Gillig bus to wheel around a bunch of Ritalin-infused brats around Western Washington, and you’ve got the picture. Liz was a cool chick…rock music playing, didn’t care if you changed seats so long as you did it only when the bus was stopped, and almost seemed to enjoy slamming the three-foot-tall shifter around on that old bus. She made the half-hour ride to and from the junior high tolerable enough, but she never, ever got a Gillig to lay a patch of rubber quite like this. To be fair, the guys in this video are cheating…the back end of this decrepit old bus (we can’t tell if it’s an older GM C-series or an International S-series) is being held up by a forklift and is slowly let down onto prepared asphalt.

Why do this? Well, from the looks of things, the old church bus is about due to retire, or maybe a couple of mechanics decided to have a little fun before returning the bus to service. Either way, it’s about as close as any kid will ever get to the fantasy of having Otto, the school bus driver from “The Simpsons”, behind the wheel hazing the back four off just because. Have you ever seen those “Drive Like Your Kids Live Here” signs in front yards? Hey, kids: watch this!

Could also be a Ford chassis, either a 370 or 429 truck engine. International quit using gas engines in bus chassis earlier than other makers.

Yea got a 65 international with a red diamond in it. Cant imagine any smoky burnouts coming from it
