We were tipped off to this neat video featuring a system that replaces the conventional valve springs found in a push rod engine with a cool mechanical setup. Maybe we’re living under a rock, but we had never seen this footage before. It seems a little odd to us, but if there is horsepower and reliability in it, we’re in!

It is really interesting to watch these babies work, especially when the engine on the dyno is run with the valve covers removed. As valve spring failures are a problem with high performance and racing applications, this system definitely has some interesting possibilities. Mechanical stuff is obviously fascinating to us, event the weirdo junk that may never get out of the prototype phase.
