Back in the 1980’s TNN was the place to be for awesome gearhead television programming. We say that because of the great lineup of shows that they had on Sunday mornings. American Sports Cavalcade was the payoff, but there was also cool stuff like Truckin’ USA, and “The Exciting World of Speed and Beauty”. This video comes from that show and features sand drags action. 

The host of the show was a guy names Dallas Raines (who is now an LA weatherman) and every week there was a feature story about a different kind of motorsport. This video centers around the coverage of sand drag racing. It features lots of track action, lots of 1980s mustaches, and an epic blower explosion which sees a Funny Car literally drive over its own blower. Skip to the 4-minute mark to see that!
