Cool Video: Hurst Racing Tires – A Pocket Bio Of The Retro-Slick Manufacturer!

Hurst Racing Tires in Oregon still makes slicks the old fashioned way…literally. These guys take a bias-ply tire, grind all of the tread off, lay a softer rubber compound on the casing and then bake it all together, one tire at a time. Their treaded stuff? Yeah, they freaking hand cut the tread into the freaking tires. We were tipped off to a cool video (ok, it is really a promo-ad for the company but it’s neat) that takes their operation, history, and family business world, wraps it into a two minute package, and makes you want to go buy their tires. It is as entertaining as it is effective as a sales tool and the video work is top shelf. Adding cool hot rods smoking their tires and the neat old shop where the products are made totally hooked us in on this video.

We’ve never run their tires or dealt with them for business so we can’t say how good their stuff is but we’re totally supportive of the fact that these are made in the USA by a father and son team using the same processes that the tires were built with for decades. Would you want them on your pro mod, super comp dragster, or 10.5-inch tire car? Probably not but you’d be a dumbass if you even considered it. These are old school tires designed for old school nostalgia cars that want to go completely “period” with their look and performance. That’s ice cold levels of cool in our book!

I wonder how much better the tire compound is compared to the 60’s even though it’s still a stiff wall tire.
