There’s a reason that AFCO shocks are the choice of virtually every seriously fast small tire car in the country. They are the most tuneable, tweakable, and tailored pieces on the market. In this video you’ll see what we’re talking about as Mark Menscer of Menscer Motorsports talks about building shocks with the correct valving and specs for his customers depending on their engine, chassis, and tire combo. The other thing that is neat about this video is the fact that Menscer shows off his shock dyno a little. As you will hear, he was approached by a customer who was having issues with his car and wanted to make sure the shocks weren’t the problem. Since the man is running AFCO’s we could have told them that they weren’t but the dyno verified that anyway. The shocks were working so something else on his car isn’t.
Before you think that AFCO is just making drag shocks, stop right there. Their pieces are also underpinning many hard core circle track cars on both dirt and asphalt, along with a host of high performance road racing and Pro Touring cars. The Ring Brothers used AFCO shocks in their builds and those guys do things the right way from top to bottom. Hit any serious track day or autocross and you’ll see more than a few cars, especially the fast ones, running AFCO equipment.
