Crash And Burn: See How Burnouts Go Bad In This All-Aussie Compilation!

There isn’t one engineer at any OEM manufacturer on the planet that is able to prepare parts that truly hold up to the stresses, heat, and violence of an Australian burnout competition. No engine is happy screaming at the upper end of it’s RPM limit with little to no airflow through the radiator. Tires do not last forever, and the fiery burnout can happen with or without the aid of fuel if the rears are spinning hard enough. There’s the good chance that the supercharged mill will break, and that is sure to leave a few pieces and parts on the skidpad, and that’s before we bring in the ultimate variable, driver skill. Skidpads are surrounded by a concrete barrier for a reason, and cars don’t like being bounced off of them. While safety crews are present around the whole perimeter of the pad to make sure that one of the most unhinged spectacles in the automotive motorsports world goes off without injury, it’s not to say that it doesn’t get exciting from time to time. Peter Flint has been on the sidelines of the skidpad for a while shooting some of the wildest machines that the island continent has to offer, and that guaranteed him some epic failure footage. Check it out!

sorry, they’re supposed to do that…nah not really, but we’ll get the inevitable comments wondering why people build cars `purely’ for these burnout comps…truth is, most aren’t built just for this, many are street registered cars that the owners don’t mind giving a hiding to occasionally. Sometimes things get a bit out of hand though… mate of mine utterly destroyed his Commy a few years ago in a local (South Australian) burnout comp, the whole back caught fire but he wouldn’t let up – then the fuel tank blew up…and the rest of it burned to the ground. Possibly a little excessive but, as he said, another ones cheap and easily available….he grabbed another one with a few months rego for under a grand.
