It seems like we’re on an Aussie drag racing video kick, but bitchin’ stuff keeps jumping off the computer screen at us. Since the whole seasons thing is a swap with the southern hemisphere, the guys down in Oz are in the middle of summer and rightfully are racing like their hair is on fire. This video features a small Australian sedan with a tiny 1.8L Isuzu four cylinder engine that packs both a turbo and nitrous. The car goes into the 8.70s in this video and that’s with a mere 108ci.
While there is nothing that could ever replace the sound and fury of a high compression or blown big block motor hammering the atmosphere on the strip, something with a thimble-like displacement on the order of this car is so impressive to us, we have to showcase it. Aside from the tiny engine, there are the miniscule slicks, and seemingly unaltered body. The car does wear licence plates but we are not sure if those are just for show or if this car is actually street legal.
Hate on four bangers all you want, but fast is fast and this thing totally hauls the mail.
Is that the Mopar Hemi V8?
Even more impressive considering its using the original izuzu SOHC 4 banger thats been around since 1975….
there are some older ke70 chassis corollas that run high 7’s on the original sohc 3tc engine too haha
it’s a good idea that they use an Isuzu Parts especially the engine. I have heard that the 1.8L Isuzu four cylinder engine is a good engine 🙂
